Prepare yourselves.

Hey! Do you follow me on Twitter? I hope so. If you don’t, YOU SHOULD. Because Thursday, I’m leaving on a long weekend trip to visit my bestie Amanda. (You should follow her too. I guarantee there will be hilarity via Twatting.) (Wait, her account is locked down. I’ll have a chat with her about this.)

Anyway, YES! I have a weekend away from home, meaning a weekend away from the hubs and Abbers. I will miss them both very very dearly, but OH MY GOD do I need a girls weekend. It’s been no secret I’ve been in The Funk lately and I’ve had just about enough of it. I’ve been trending towards more of the happys lately, but I think this weekend might just help. Or being away from my little family will send me in a downward spiral of despair. Whatevs. There’ll be shopping and lots of the drink so I’m sure I’ll cope somehow.  :) (No, family members reading this, I’m not an alcoholic. Yet.)

SO – tune into Twitter starting Thursday afternoon. I’ll be twittering lots and lots until Monday when I return. I’ll be flying to Phoenix, going to an 80s themed happy hour, driving to historic Prescott, AZ…and seeing Sex & The City 2. Then somehow finding my way through the Sky Harbor Airport in a massively hungover state to fly back home.

Speaking of Sex & The City 2, have you seen this video? I swear to you it is the funniest thing I have ever seen. I’ve watched it a million times and tears come to my eyes EVERY SINGLE TIME. So…watch it. And follow this guy on Twitter.

PS – Got the kitchen painted. THANK THE GODS. It looks awesome, btw.

I’m glad I’m not the one answering the red phone in the oval office.

I’m bad at making decisions. Remember how I asked you guys to help me pick a photo for my Modern Bird print? And then I picked one.

And then Mr. Lame Sauce himself sent me the proofs, and I changed my mind.

And now I can’t decide on colors.

So, once again, interwebs, I request your assistance.

I’m not married to any of these. In fact, I’m thinking about skipping the wood tone and doing a two color. But I can’t pick anything worth a damn.

SO. Here’s what Mr. Lame Sauce has been kind enough to draw up so far.

Plum

Plum

Wine

Mediterranean

As you can see we ended up liking the full body one better after all. But I can’t decide on a color. I really DO like the plum but it seems too dark. Our living room is creams, mossy greens, mediterrenean blues, and dark browns. This will be in the living room, more than likely.

We have these pillows on our couches, to try to bring light to the colors:

And there’s just a smidgen of our rug in the background of this old skool photo:

Here’s a link to Modern Bird’s color chart.

Now…help! Please and thank you. :)

How do I decide?! I know! Ask the internets!

So, I’m super-duper-uuber stoked for my prize from Modern Bird Studios via Harper’s Happenings. Now the hard part. Picking an image.

I chatted with Megan from Modern Bird and they’re being super awesome and letting me upgrade to a 12″x24″ piece instead (in exchange for dollars, of course). I was quick to start looking at pictures. The hubs and I have it narrowed down to two;  I can’t decide. So, which one should we pick? Remember, this is more than likely being hung above our fireplace.

This is an example of their awesome work:

And here are the images we’re deciding between. Don’t even ask me which colors we’re choosing.

Huhhh. Decisions decisions.

So, HELP dear internets! Which do we choose? Abbers will forever be captured in one of these two poses (well, moreso forever than a digital copy of these photos). Which should we do?

Because I could use a little help…

How many lives can one person save?

Over 60 people. That’s the answer.

It was confirmed earlier today that my friend Sarah is indeed in a vegetative state. Her brain went without oxygen for too long and is swelling. Following her wishes, her parents are having her organs donated. Sixty people will benefit from her gift. With the tragedy of her impending death, this is the best news we could hope for.

My friend Kelley who passed away last May donated his organs as well.

If anything please take a moment to make sure that if you’re an organ donor, your loved ones know that this is your wish. Make sure your drivers license notates this as well. If you’re not already an organ donor, please consider doing so. Although the site is ridiculously archaic, OrganDonor.gov is a great resource for any questions you might have.

And again, give your friends and family the hug you’ve been meaning to give next time you see them.

(Also, a big shout out the hubs. He brought me flowers, chocolate cake and mac & cheese from Noodles to cheer me up. It helped. Until my stomach imploded. At least the flowers smell nice.)

A lack of peeps and sad news.

Happy Easter, dear readers.

Today turned out to be a gorgeous day. We headed to the hubs’ parents house and had a wonderful dinner prepared mostly by my sister-in-law. After stuffing ourselves we headed to the front yard to enjoy the sun and warm weather.

Please enjoy my bra strap and poor posture.

Abby was having so much fun that she passed out within 15 minutes of being outside.

So, I took it upon myself to take some photos of my favorite subject.

On a much sadder note, a friend I’ve known since junior high school suffered both cardiac and respiratory arrest after being brought to the emergency room on Friday when she was unable to breathe. After being brought back to life, she suffered a number of seizures and two strokes, and is now in a medically induced coma and is presumed to be in a vegetative state. She turns 30 in a matter of weeks. I’m trying to stay optimistic as she is a spitfire to the nth degree and if anyone could come out of this mess, it would be her. Any good vibes you have to share are greatly appreciated. I’m going to the hospital tomorrow to sit with her family.

Give your friends an extra hug the next time you see them. Shit happens in the matter of seconds.

My life almost ended.

For 36 hours this weekend, good ol’ Bessy, aka my four year old iBook stopped working. It shut itself down, and then refused to power up again. We’ve neglected to unplug it from the power plug so the battery was crap, but no reason to not turn on. I panicked. Not only because I had pictures on there that were not backed up of Abby’s first date with rice cereal, but OMGINEEDMYLAPTOP. Seriously. I know I’m addicted to the likes of Twitter and Google Reader, but I had no idea how much. I attempted to turn it on numerous times to no avail. I started imagining how much it was going to suck to go another $1800 into debt because Bessy wouldn’t fire up. And another $350 or so on the Adobe Web Premium (thanks educational discount). And then, randomly…I gave it one last try before using it as a doorstop, and it magically turned on. Only one other time can I remember being so relieved, and then was when John the Midwife announced Abby was out and GOOD GOD I no longer had an inside baby. So, yeah – that’s why I was absent over the weekend.

All kidding aside, there’s a serious event taking place early tomorrow morning. The hubs’ mother is going in for brain surgery to remove a tumor that’s pushing in the olfactory area of her brain. She’s lost her sense of smell forever, but they need to remove the tumor to ensure that she doesn’t lose anything else. It’s pretty scary. Luckily they can access the area through her nasal cavity rather than having to pull her skull back (::shudder::) so her recovery time will be minimal at 6 weeks. Also, more than likely the tumor is not cancerous, but of course they won’t know for sure until they do a biopsy.

The hubs is getting up at 4am tomorrow to pick up his folks and drive them to the University hospital, where he’ll spend the day with his dad, waiting for his mom to endure the 6 hour surgery.

Thoughts, prayers, good juju – whatever you have to spare would be greatly appreciated.

You know…that tear wasn’t half bad, in retrospect.

I know, I know, I have yet to divulge the dirty deets of my labor.  I’ve started writing it a few times, and then get distracted. I’m going to try to do it tonight. The more I wait, the more I forget and blur what really happened. And it’s important you know EVERYTHING that happened, internets.  It will explain why I (sort of) politely requested John the Midwife and his trusty student Midwife Julie to go ahead and sew up my vag completely while they were mending my tear, because I simply was never going to utilize that area of my body EVER AGAIN.

And speaking of pain, I’m in it. No, not your typical post delivery pains of the groinal region (those are getting better)…but that of engorged ta-tas. They hurt. A LOT.

I suppose at this point I should pause and reiterate that yes, I decided to formula feed. It was the greatest decision I’ve ever made, next to deciding to start a family.  The hubs has been able to be as involved as me in this whole process, which was super important since I was pretty much living on Mars for the first 18 hours after I had Abby – thanks to the drugs I was on.  He changed her first diaper, gave her her first bottle. After the pregnancy I had and the not so great labor, I couldn’t IMAGINE trying to deal with breastfeeding right now. I’ve diverted from the topic at hand – my gigantic, hard boobs.

My milk came in yesterday. I naively thought I was in the clear, seeing as how it was Saturday and nothing had happened yet. Boy, was I wrong. This is only supposed to last a couple days, I think…but MY GOD. Ta-tas this huge and I can’t even show them off. (They are firmly strapped down via sports bra that I didn’t even remove to shower.)

So, yeah, in any case…I am still alive. Sleeping not much, but getting so much help (and love) from the hubs, my mother-in-law, my mother (who, even though can’t be here this first week like we’d hoped – has been nothing but awesome as my “24 hour help line/psychiatric assistant”) as well as our dads and countless friends and family. I’ll get hormonal/drunken frat boy and say I LOVE YOU ALL. No, seriously dude. I LOVE YOU.

Your gift to Abby…

…if you would please…

They restarted the vote count…AGAIN! (If you’re confused, see this post from a couple days ago)…so if you could again do me all a favor and click the hell outta the link on the right that says “We’re Listed! @TopBabyBlogs.com” (or for you RSS readers, the banner at the bottom of each update) – that would be swell!

(We were doing so well – this blog was ranked 19th! And now…pffftt. So, if you could help out with a bunch of clicks on those, that’d be the greatest virtual gift to give to Abby!)

Thanks everyone!
