I just saw these guys at First Avenue on Monday night. They are quickly becoming my favorite band. (Look out, Queens of the Stone Age.)

This song isn’t off their newest, but is one of their best songs as far as I’m concerned. (Not to mention it was fucking kick-ass live.)

Please to enjoy.

Also if you haven’t seen it yet, I have a new post up at MamaPop.

Best Friends.

This weekend, my bestie Martini was in town. We had plenty of things to take care of while she was here, mostly on the wedding planning front because she’s getting married in about a month. (Eeeee!) And, being the responsible Matron Duchess of Honor that I am, I hadn’t purchased a dress yet.

Sidenote: Yes. I am straight out refusing to be called a Matron of Honor because it sounds like I’m 50. Nothing against 50-year-olds, but EFFING YUCK.

So, we shopped (I found my dress and I want to wear it all the time), we drank, we stayed up late and laughed and told stories…it was just the break I needed from reality. She is by all means my best friend, my sister, and one of the few people in life that knows me to my core.

At the same time, I have a new best friend. I knew we would be at some point, but when she said it my heart burst out of my chest only to swallow me whole. She said it once while we were shopping with Auntie Martini on Sunday, and again last night while we were falling asleep in her bed.

“Mama? You’re my best friend.”

I know she’s only 2 (a month away from being 3), and that this feeling she has for me may not last forever, but it is one of the most wonderful things I could ever imagine her saying to me. I hope she does always think of me as her best friend. She will always be mine. (As long as Martini doesn’t mind sharing the title.)

(Thanks for reading! And if you’re interested, I have a new post over at MamaPop – “The 64th Annual Emmys: An Evening Of Fabric Thievery And Ocular Fashion Assault“)

HEY!!! I’M GOING TO BLOGHER! AGAIN! FOR THE THIRD YEAR IN A ROW!

If you’re totally not interested in any of this nonsense, feel free to skip this post.

If you’re going?! OMGLOLI’LLSEEYOUTHERE!!!one!!1!

I thought I’d do a little introduction post, so you know how to spot me or what conversation to strike up while we’re waiting in line for the bathroom at Sparklecorn.

First of all, this is me:

Yes, I own like, 4 different pairs of glasses. I’m a glasses horder. However, I might put on my big girl underoos and wear my contacts. IMMA MIX SHIZ UP. So, it’s essentially a grab bag.

Here’s things I would love to discuss with you!

Here’s what I don’t want to talk about.

  • Politics.
  • Religion.
  • Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Scooby-Doo, Ni-Hao Kai-lan, etc. I get enough of that at home.
  • Blog Stats/Monetizing/Couponing (No offense.)
  • How I’m out of drink tickets.
  • That checking the weather is bad for my health.
  • What time my flight leaves.

But seriously, I am so stoked to land in New York on Wednesday evening, to spend sometime with some of my blogging besties (like, 20 of them) and how friendships made on the internets are just as real and true as any other.

What’s most hilarious is that as each year passes that I attend BlogHer, I spend less and less time packing. I mean, I’m actually going shopping for stuff to wear on Monday and am leaving on Wednesday. I think it’s safe to say I’m not worried about this shit anymore. I’m some sort of professional…something.

*This post is probably all over the place since I’m getting ready to leave for a cabin tomorrow and toddlers and SEINFELD IS ON and where the eff is the pizza man and laundry and dirty house. All at once. But again. Not worried.

On the Road.

I am a 31 year old woman who has to plug her nose underwater.

This is one of the thoughts I had daily while we were on vacation in the Turks & Caicos. It was embarrassing.

Without plugging my nose, I panic. Without doing it my way, I feel like I’m going to drown.

My life is like a wave pool, constantly throwing me underwater, having the power to make panic.

But I’ve decided to remind myself that I can…no, I NEED to make sure that I’m doing things the way I need to do them. I need to take care of myself and make sure that I’m not drowning.

Plugging my nose shouldn’t be embarrassing. It’s the way I get by. It’s the only way I know how.

This blog is one of the ways I’ve gotten through everything life has thrown at me. My panic, the medication to dissolve the anxiety, my lack of taking care of me have unfortunately been reasons I’ve been away. I love blogging. I don’t ever want that part of me to go away.

I have a lot of things going on in my life I’m excited to write about. It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to say that. And now I am.
