So, I have a confession to make. I have a guilty pleasure. You could maybe even call it an obsession.

I’m a lurker on the “Babies on the Brain” discussion board on thenest.com.

This is nothing I’m proud of, and more than likely gives the wrong impression – that I have babies on the brain. It’s more like I have “ladies obsessed with getting pregnant and being pregnant” on the brain. It’s become a form of entertainment for me.

It’s a known fact that nerds and geeks have their own languages when they’re LARPING or playing D&D or Magic: The Gathering. Well, I’m here to tell you, so do ladies on this board.

I don’t know what it is, but I check this board at least once a day to read up on things. There’s a woman on this board who’s been trying for like, a year and a half to get pregnant, and a lot of the other girls on there have a “blinkie” in their signatures rooting for her to do so. It’s like, a whole new subculture of people and language – and I’m hooked. They all announce when they’re pregnant, share stories of morning sickness and rude comments from people about their preggo bellies, and flame on idiot girls who make stupid posts.

Now let me again reiterate that I, by no means, want to be pregnant or have a baby right now. We just got married, and haven’t even moved into our house yet. So – I’d like to live my life for another year or two before I start spawning off little jerks. (I mean that in the nicest way.) But, for whatever reason – I find that board and all the ladies on it most entertaining.
