I found this interesting.

It’s no secret that I have a minor blogging crush on Heather Armstrong of Dooce fame. Her blog and “job” are what I envy. I would love to be in her position.

Recently, her husband and other husbands of blogging wives/moms spoke on the point of how they feel about their lives and whatnot being put on public display. I find this interesting because sometimes the hubs feels the same way, and doesn’t always care for all the information about myself that I put out there.

On a related note, I had started a blog entry yesterday – and haven’t published it. I was literally typing my thoughts, and I don’t know how comfortable I am with putting what I’ve typed out there for the world. I might re-write and publish…stay tuned.

I swear I’m not going to jump off a bridge.

Category I am awesome

The husband pointed out to me yesterday that – as far as the blogging world is concerned – it seems as though I’m in dire need of a prozac & lexapro cocktail lately.

Let me assure you, my devoted 3 readers, that all is well and good in the land of Jenna. I sometimes forget that this blog isn’t just an area for me to vent, rant and bitch about some of the BS that fills my daily life, that I should focus on the good as well.

Well, internets – there are good things happening in my life. Some of them I can’t speak of yet (and no, Martini…I’m not knocked up) but will in due time.

My new year’s resolution is to be more positive. Not just here in blogland, but across the board. I know people get a kick out of my sarcasm (which is usually based on negativity) but I’ll be focusing on turning that implied frown upside down. Maybe I’ll get one of these in my stocking this year. :)

On a totally unrelated note, I read this morning on CNN.com that “The Day The Earth Stood Still” got uber shitty reviews. THANK GOD. Maybe now someone can put Keanu to bed again for another few years until another robotic cyborg role opens up.

This is not reality.

Category not so much, the cats

Take note. The above picture is the exact opposite of the cats in our household.

After the last couple of months of vet visits for my sweet little Milo, today I must take Boo the hellcat to the vet. He has an inner AND outer ear infection that may require fluid to be removed. (Read: suck more money out of our credit cards.)

I can’t even get over it. The amount of time I’ve spent at the University of Minnesota Small Animal Clinic this year is ridonkulous. Don’t get me wrong, I’m thankful for all they’ve done for us, but I’d also really like that $4,000 back, thankyouverymuch.

What makes today even more fun than previous visits is that I got to start it out with over an hour of freeway driving this morning so I could have the car. That’s not a good way to start the day – especially when I usually start it out by falling asleep as the train takes me straight to work.

Here’s my half-assed optimistic thought for the day; 2008 has fucking SUCKED. Therefore, 2009 has to be a better year. There’s no way a year could suck anymore than this one did. So…three more weeks until everything gets better.

(And anyone who thinks I’m saying this year has sucked because my cats have been sick and are a black hole for money can SUCK A FAT ONE because it’s so much more than that.)

Sorry this post is so bitchy. I’ve just really had it up to here.

Ahhhh…..

Category retail therapy

This weekend I actually got to relax. It was SO nice. We watched 3 movies (Cloverfield – A, Stepbrothers – B, and Transformers – A), picked up the house, laid around, and did some shoveling. It was bliss. I also got a little more Christmas shopping done, and scored the effing DEAL OF THE CENTURY at Nordstrom Rack.

William Rast Jeans – Savoy Regular Rise Trouser in a Tanzanite Wash
Reg Price: $220 (still available on their website – see link above)
Nordstrom Rack: $70

I love them. For those not in the know, this is Justin Timberlake’s clothing line. And damn, does he know how to make my ass look good. Granted, he assumes I’m about 4 inches taller than I really am, but I’ll let it slide.

I also scored a super cute Kenzie tank that will be excellent for Vegas.

Today is Monday. Two weeks from tomorrow, I’m going back home for Christmas! I’m so excited!!

Vegas, baby, VEGAS.

Category I am awesome, other people are awesome

I’ve been bad at blogging. This week has been long and rough. Headaches and ill-functioning organs have plagued me for the past couple of weeks. Today, I feel better. I even just ate Chipotle without it causing any explosive results. (So far.) TGIF.

ANYWAY, the post title. I’m going to VEGAS! Woo-HOO! One of my BFs Angie and I have decided to take a weekend vacay in January. My other BF Martini is more than likely joining us as well. What better way to celebrate Martin Luther King day than gambling and drinking! Screw the economy. I’ll win something…right? Angie and I haven’t been on a trip together since the spring of 2002, when we drove to Clearwater, Florida in my trusty Honda Civic with a couple other gals. That was a trip. However, we’re older and wiser now. And less likely to don a bikini. And thus, we shall base a trip on drinking, shopping and gambling. Man, I’m turning into my grandmother.

In Christmas shopping news, I’m nearly done. I need to get a gift for my dad, and then I’m finished. YESSS. Most of my gifts are wrapped, but due to unruly cats, we can’t put them under the tree, unless I want to wrap them again. Jerks.

3 weeks from today, I’ll be home, Christmas will be over, and I’ll have time to just relaaaxxxx. Excellent. Then…skiing/snowboarding in Lutsen over New Years, and then Vegas!!!
