The difference a week can make!

Category I am awesome, other people are awesome

As I mentioned in my last post, I was a happy girl when I went to bed on Saturday night because that meant last week was officially OVER. I guess I didn’t actually go to bed…I fell asleep on the couch while we watched Up in the Air. (Don’t get me wrong, it was a good movie but exhaustion had officially won.) The hubs tried to wake me up, only to muster a “hnghuugh” from me and thus I brought in the new week on the couch. No matter.

Sunday we went for a nice long walk around Lake Calhoun with the Abbers, I got a couple loads of laundry done and all was well. Yesterday was the Twins Home Opener, for which the Hubs and I paid out the ass to be at. It was AWESOME. I made the mistake of starting my drinking at noon (after dropping Abby at the in-laws, of course) and cracked open a beer to celebrate the gates officially being opened. (While I watched at home on my couch waiting for friends to arrive. By myself. No, I am not an alcoholic.) Then I helped my bestie split a bottle of Blood Orange Mimosas (premade in a bottle). All on the fabulous base of a Slim Fast shake! YAY! DRUNK JENNA! AT ONE-THIRTY IN THE AFTERNOON! Whatever, it was the home opener, beetches. At our new fancy ballpark. It was all legit.

The headache I got in the fifth inning was NOT cool, however…even if it was expected. So, after the game, we headed home, picked up Abbers from her grandparents, came home and pretty much went to bed.

I did not log into Twitter yesterday.

Meanwhile, this was happening.

That’s right. I EFFING WON A GIVEAWAY AND HAD NO IDEA.

And this is not some lame-o giveaway. This is THE MOST AWESOME GIVEAWAY EVAR. Mandy at Harper’s Happenings and Modern Bird Studios teamed up for this epic awesomeness.

So yeah, imagine my surprise when I see an email from Mandy in my inbox telling me I won…and wondering where I’ve been all day!

Needless to say I may have peed my pants a little. Or a lot. There might have been squealing too.

I’m going to look at all the photos I have of Abbers tonight and pick one out with the hubs. I’m so effing excited about this. Really.

If you don’t already subscribe to their blogs – you should. You should also follow these guys on Twitter. They’re good people.

Category not so much, other people are awesome

Yesterday I went to the hospital to say goodbye to Sarah one final time.

It sucked.

I’m having a hard time putting it into words, but my friend at Aboutfulness blog wrote about it. I’m just going to direct you there, because what she wrote is absolutely perfect and beautiful and perfect.

Please read she is quite wonderful.

After today we’ll be back to our regularly scheduled programming, including the fact that my baby girl weighs 16.5 pounds now. WTF happened to my tiny baby? Someone answer me!!

SO happy I could cry.

Almost 3 months ago, my Grandmother passed away. She always spoiled me rotten, always – and even in her passing, she continued to do the same.

I was lucky enough to inherit her car, which was such a blessing since the hubs and I have been a one car household for almost 2.5 years. With the lil’ ninja on it’s way, and the hubs working 10 hour days (not getting home until almost 7 or 7:30 every night), functioning with only one car was becoming nearly impossible. So, for the car alone, I am eternally grateful.

However, she also left me a chunk of an IRA. A decent sized chunk which the hubs and I had planned on just hanging on to, but had wanted to pay off some debt. Last weekend, I talked to my mom and dad, and they convinced me that I should just cash it out and pay off our biggest credit card (leaving the rest of our credit card debt manageable and probably will be paid off by October).

Today, I did just that. I paid off our big credit card. Our honeymoon, the Mexico trip from earlier this year, numerous kitty emergencies, and God knows what else, all FINALLY paid for.

That, my friends, was the greatest feeling in the world. Knowing when our babe enters this world, we’ll essentially be debt free (you know, aside from our car payment and mortgage) is the best feeling in the entire world.

Thanks again Gabs…you continue to be my guardian angel. Love you much, and miss you more.

14 weeks, and a well deserved update.

How far along? 14 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: + 1 overall.
Maternity clothes? I FINALLY bought some full panel jeans yesterday. They are THE THING GREATEST EVER.

Stretch marks? No, but itchy boobs. A sign of stretch marks to come? Maybe.

Sleep: Don’t ask. Sleep has unfortunately been off due to awesome houseguests Martini and Single Grrrl.

Best moment this week: Starting the registry. THAT was interesting. :)

Movement: Again, tons of it, just don’t feel it yet.

Food cravings: All foods sound good for the most part.

Gender: I’m thinking girl now.

Labor Signs:
Nada.
Belly Button in or out? Still innie. Still wider.

What I miss: Being able to stay out late.

What I am looking forward to: Adding the big ticket items to the registry.

Weekly Wisdom: Don’t try to tackle your whole registry in one day. You’ll go insane.

Milestones: First EXCELLENT maternity pants. Full panel, full awesomeness.

So, I’ve been noticeably absent from the blogging world since Friday. This is because my BFF Martini and her friend Single Grrrl came for a visit on Saturday from a land where it’s much, much warmer than the MPLS. We went out for dinner every night, did the Walk for the Cure on Mother’s day, went shopping and saw a concert. And every night I was struggling to stay out and awake. :) But we had tons of fun.

Mother’s Day was very nice. I got a cute card from the hubs as well as some pretty flowers, a card from my mom & dad (and they paid for an opal necklace of my late grandmother’s to be rhodium plated and mailed it to me), a card & Pooh photo album from my lovely mother-in-law, a card from my sister-in-law, and a card from my grandma. So many cards and cute gifts! Martini also brought me a baby book, complete with box for keepsakes, that I don’t think was necessarily meant as a mother’s day gift, but it bears mentioning here. :)

The three of us (sans the hubs) started my registry at BRU on Sunday as well. Holy crap. That’s a daunting task. I registered for a bunch of smaller items, but held off on bigger ticket items like the crib, carrier, stroller and whatnot for when the hubs joins me. We’ll probably tackle that this weekend.

Shopping yesterday was v. good. I FINALLY bought myself a pair of maternity jeans (full panel) at the Gap that are SO much more comfy than my jeans+bella band combo. They were even on sale! I also bought a scarf at H&M, a couple shirts (in a little larger than my average size so they can be worn for a while this summer) and a canvas print at Urban Outfitters. I think it’ll match the bedding I’ve decided on.

The print.

The bedding.
