Frozen Solid.

I know, I know…I’m being a wuss. But really….it was -17 degrees when I left home this morning. Without the windchill. IN MINNEAPOLIS.

*sigh*

The only silver lining is that in about 50 hours, I’ll be on a plane to Vegas, where it is about 70 degrees warmer than it is here. AWESOME. I’m totally just going to walk around nude. Just kidding. But really, I will be wearing flip flops and NO EFFING JACKET.

And I’ll be shopping AND drinking at the same time. (I know, Martini, you’re all – but I do that all the time!) I’m talking LEGALLY. Nickel slots, call girls…I cannot wait.

Anyway…I have to say, I’m really going to miss the husband. I know it’s a girls weekend, but it will be weird being away from him for that long. I’ve only done it a couple times before, but I’ll be missing him dearly. Although, I’m sure he could do without all the shopping and hours of slot machine play. I know he’ll be keeping the boys (Milo & Boo) warm and happy – and probably having fun doing all the things I usually quietly disapprove of. :)

So, that’s where it stands. I still have to pack, do laundry, grocery shop with the husband, and of course…work before I leave. But, I’ve finally made a list. So at least I sort of have my shit together. I barely slept last night worrying about all the things I have to do before I leave. I need to knock that off.

Another anniversary.

It was a year ago today that I was made the happiest girl – the second time in a month. A few weeks after I got married, my favorite band on the planet played at my favorite venue on the planet.

Queens of the Stone Age at First Avenue in the MPLS.

It was a day sent from God, if there is one.

I was a giddy little schoolgirl. My friend A and I had tickets – later, the hubs got a ticket (as did a couple other folks) to join. A and I squeeled for like, 2 hours during the show. Mind you, we had just seen them the night before at Alpine Valley when they opened for Rage Against the Machine. It didn’t matter. I was so close. SO close. The photo above was taken from where I was sitting at First Ave (for those in the know, I was sitting on the ledge – best seat in the house if you ask me).

Nothing will top that concert. I will see a lot of good shows in my day. I have seen a lot – including Radiohead at Alpine Valley, David Bowie, the Pixies – they all are awesome. But in my own music review website called my brain – this will be number one.

In my little cube in corporate America, I have the poster from that show to remind me that I was there. It makes me happy.

World’s Shortest Fairy Tale…

…courtesy of my Aunt Laurie. :)

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl, “Will you marry me?”

The girl said, “NO!”

And the girl lived happily ever after and went shopping, dancing, antiquing, drank martinis, always had a clean house, never had to cook, did whatever the hell she wanted, never argued, traveled often, had many lovers, didn’t save money, and had all the hot water to herself. She went to the theater, never watched sports, never wore friggin’ lacy lingerie that went up her butt, had high self-esteem, never cried or yelled, felt and looked fabulous in sweat pants and was pleasant all the time.

The End

Holy Crapskie.

What a weekend.

I’ll begin at the beginning.

The hubs and I spent Thursday evening and Friday morning prepping the house for our 4th of July BBQ. Right about 4:00pm, our first guests arrived. Then they all slowly began to arrive. We had an awesome turnout. I got drunk. For the first time in a while. So, if anyone who reads this showed up and I didn’t say hi to you…it was cause I was in the bag. :) We all took turns playing Cornhole and Nutwrap, and also took turns emptying the keg. As the night progressed, we had a fire in an outdoor firepit on loan from the hubs’ parents. At some point, a fire started in the grass below the firepit. At another point, someone broke one of our wineglasses and decided it should go in the firepit. Then the hubs went to bed (drunkies). Later, someone wised up, pulled the glass out of the fire, yet left it on the sidewalk. At the same time as the hubs getting up to eh, relieve the contents of his stomach (on the front steps of our house), there were dudes in my bathtub trying to mend the hole in one of their feet due to misc. glass being left on the sidewalk. (You still with me here?) So, while I should have been checking on my husband, I was playing nurse in the bathtub and trying to find antibiotic ointment for this dude’s foot.

Eventually, everyone left.

The next morning, our backyard was nothing short of a crime scene. Bottle rocket remnants, burned up yard, and blood all over the sidewalk. Lucky for me, I stopped drinking at about 11pm the night before and had begun cleaning things up, so not much was needed the next day. (Aside from hosing blood and some barf off our sidewalks.) This turned out to be a good idea, since we had made last minute plans to go to a cabin 2 hours away. The hubs woke up, still drunk I presume – we packed, showered and headed out. Spent the day out on a boat on a lake with friends, and somehow more beer. It was lovely. Got back yesterday, and didn’t do anything I was hoping, like a load of laundry and mopping the kitchen floor. I guess I’ll do that tonight. :)

(Don’t ask me who those women are. I heart Google Images.)

This may have been the longest week EVER.

Today is the summer solstice, so it SEEMS like the longest day ever.

Coincidence? Maybe.

After working a 10 hour day yesterday, I don’t even feel like I should be here today.

The hubs and I have a big weekend of home improvement planned. I’m going to replace our doorbell while he attempts again to grow grass in our patchy front yard. I have a couple big walks this weekend too, a 10 mile one tomorrow and a 6 mile one Sunday.

That’s all for now. :)
