Offer remorse IS a real thing!

It’s funny, our Realtor said this kind of thing happens, no matter how much you like a house, but that you’ll always start to second guess yourself when you have an offer in. The hubs and I are apparently sufferers of the same.

So, yes, we DID put an offer on the house last night. Then we went to the hubs’ folks house and ate some of their food (since we have none and don’t get paid until tomorrow) and then decided to drive by the house.

A few things we didn’t really realize when we looked at the house the first time are as follows:

1) The house is nearly kitty-corner to a High School. This is one of the bigger high schools in Minneapolis. And we’re not talking prep school either. It’s a little, shall we say, inner city. Friday nights during the fall will include bumper to bumper cars parked in front of “our” house for football games, and people EVERYWHERE. Not too big of a deal, I guess. Summers will be more quiet, at least.

2) We didn’t drive through the alley when we looked at the house. Turns out, the garage on “our” house is one of only a handful that DIDN’T have graffiti (evidence of old or new) on the garage. That kind of sucks. I mean graffiti happens in uptown all the time, but not on my property. It worries me slightly. I mean, the house is great and overall the neighborhood is nice, but it’s not the white picket fence variety of all the neighbors being friends and whatnot that I had initially and irrationally imagined.

I guess it comes down to this. The hubs and I plan on, should we get this house, having a security system installed pretty quickly. I don’t think anyone’s going to rob us so much…I’ll just feel better knowing we have one. :) I still love the house, regardless of it’s surroundings – and I think that’s all that matters. I just won’t be walking around at 2am by myself. Not that I was planning on it…

So, here we are then…9:15am…and just waiting to hear what they say. This being our FOURTH offer (our Realtor reminded us of one we wrote up and never even got to deliver on a house in February) – we might actually get to experience what a counter-offer is like. Weird!

Here we go again.

Because I need to tell someone, and I swore not to tell anyone because we might jinx it – what better way to clear my head than inadvertently telling the whole world? We found another house. And we’re hopefully going to make an offer on it today, barring any unforeseen circumstances. This one is a goodie. The only thing it’s lacking is a dishwasher, which may or may not be able to be added at a later date. But the house is so freaking cute! Three bedrooms, 1 3/4 bathrooms, finished basement, fireplace, central air! And just a couple blocks from the light rail! Okay…I need to calm down. I feel like I’m setting myself up for disaster yet again.

In any case, I emailed the numbers to our mortgage Queen, Anne so we can get the ball rolling, and we will be signing our offer after work.

Please, everyone in the blogging world that may read this – fingers crossed! We need all the help we can get! If this falls through, we’re moving in with one of you guys. :) Martini – you’re first on the list. :)

2. Grey low-top Converse shoes.
3. My hott Chinese Laundry black heels I bought with NO option of ever really wearing in real life, since I am heels-retarded.

4. Whereever money grows on trees

4 Names I love but could/would not use for my children
Yeah, I don’t get it either. Per my email to ms martini, I WOULD use, Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda and Samantha.

4 Reasons I would dump you if we were dating
(do I need to make a disclaimer that I’m married? Hey hubs – I’m NOT dating, and don’t plan on it.) :)
1. You had some sort of “save water” plan which included not showering.
2. You lived with your parents for any other reason aside from helping them with their terminal illnesses.
3. You mysteriously appeared from the bathroom with a coke moustache (and I’m not talkin’ cola).
4. You hated cats.

And done. Now, to figure out “what’s for dinner.” I think I’ll have PB&J. The hubs can fend for himself. Ghost Hunters is on in 45 minutes. :)

So, here I am at work, sort-of back in the land of the living, after a long weekend of sleeping and being sick. I left work on Thursday around noon, and didn’t come back until today. Some sort of bronchial issue, I assume. I had a meeting with my boss’ boss today, and he made me sit as far away from him in his office as possible, while I sucked on a cough drop and breathed into a Kleenex. And now, at 2pm…I’m having a Power-C Vitamin Water, with a Smart Water back.

Aside from thinking I was going to die this weekend, it was a weird one, at best. Friday night the hubs and I went to First Ave to see Girl Talk, Dan Deacon, The Show is the Rainbow, and Tay Zonday. Have any idea who any of those people/artists/DJs are? Maybe the last guy. He got pretty famous from his little You Tube stint. (If you still don’t know – view it here.) In any case, the rest was just insane – like a house party full of wasted 18 year olds ready to dance to the most bizarre shit I’ve ever seen. The whole debacle didn’t start until 11pm, and we stayed until just after 2am. (Which more than likely assisted me in feeling like ass.) Here’s a good idea of what the night was like –

Girl Talk is just a dude with a Mac that does really good mash-ups of songs. Such a weird night.

Saturday we had another day of house hunting. It’s getting hard, I’m still holding out for “the feeling” when we see a house, and I haven’t gotten one since the house we put an offer on a couple weeks ago. I’m not willing to just take any house, because I want what’s best for the hubs and I, and whatever offspring that may occur in the next 5-10 years. The hubs on the other hand, wants a house so bad, that his expectations are nearly on the opposite end of the spectrum as me. He’s getting frustrated with me and I feel bad because I want a house just as bad as he does…but I’m just not willing to settle. *sigh* Everyone PLEASE – say a little prayer or cast a spell or something that we come across the house of our dreams soon. :)

Huhhh. Mondays.

Well, after probably the busiest weekend in Minneapolis since the wedding, I am back at work, and exhausted. Things accomplished this weekend:

  • Looked at 9 more houses, liked one – then determined it to be too far away to ever have people visit or be able to go out for a night on the town. Back to the drawing board.
  • Kind of cleaned the apartment
  • Got most of the laundry done at the hubs parents
  • Got wasted and had a good time at birthday festivities, thus creating hangover type situation Sunday morning
  • Told landlord off about lease situation (well, the hubs did) and landlord backed off. Funny how mention of lawyers will make people eat their words

Things I didn’t get done this weekend:

  • Work on work (since I have 2 more weeks of work to get done before Friday)
  • Write effing thank you notes for the wedding. I want this done. In fact, this has do be done before Erin’s wedding in 2 weeks. And that’s that.

The hubs and I also have a date at the Hennepin County Government Center on Thursday to apply for our passports. This trip we can’t afford to Costa Rica is going to require them and we have most definitely waited too long already.

Also, please enjoy this photo of Boo-boo the cat hating his life, while the hubs and I laugh hysterically at him.
