A tease if you please.

You can look at all the new photos of the nursery on my flickr page. (The crib isn’t put together yet – I’ll add more pics with that when it’s done! Probably sometime later this week.)

Nursery Update, Part 2.

WE HAVE PAINTED WALLS! ::cheers and applause::

It took SO MUCH LONGER than I thought it would, but it’s done, and I love the color. My lovely friend Meredith suggested a color for the walls – and without hesitation I purchased a can and began prepping the walls. The color (Benjamin Moore’s “Gray Wisp”) finally went on the walls on Saturday, after the hubs rolled the primer on. It turned out really well. It looked like a greenish gray while wet, and now looks more of a bluish gray in some light…but will go VERY well with everything we have for the room.

We tried negotiating a pick up of the furniture this weekend, and it was turning into a huge ordeal, so we arranged to have everything delivered…tonight!! (I’M EXCITED – AGAIN.)

And yes (Shannon), I know I’m missing a photo from this past week. It’s too late now. :) BUT I will take one tonight to add to my 27 week post tomorrow, as well as the first peek at the not-so-finished nursery.

I’m a lying liar.

Yes – as my lovely friend Shannon pointed out…my 22 week picture is still MIA. And you won’t be getting one, because of my various mini and mega meltdowns last week. :)

Anyway, I promise to take a 23 week photo tonight, as well as begin the “before” photos of the house, since we FINALLY got the nursery (formerly the guest room) moved into the attic last night. We also went to Home Depot and ordered the new doors for the house to be installed in the next 2-3 weeks. Eeee! Things are finally happening! The attic still needs to be cleaned a bit (not to mention it’s about a fafillion degrees up there) but it will be done soon, and will be much more tolerable in the fall when the bebeh comes. (So, Mom…it will be more comfortable when you come to stay with us!) The next step is picking out a paint color for the nursery. I’ve already got a few picked out – but need to check them against the swatch of the glider we picked out. And at some point…I’m taking the nasty chair rail down. Just wait till you see the pictures. It’s no good.

Other than that – we went to the Twins game on Saturday and had AWESOME seats behind the Twins dugout, and I even went out to a bar for a bit afterwards! (A big feat for me to not be in bed by 11!)

And tonight, I’m making tacos and we’re watching the Home Run Derby and my other husband, Joe Mauer, who will hopefully hit a few homers.

Cleaning makes me sick.

It’s true.

I’ve only really cleaned twice since being knocked up. Once last Thursday, and again last night. Both evenings of cleaning involved vacuuming and laundry, and both resulted in me feeling like ASS the next day, with a backache, headache, and even a little nausea.

Granted, when I clean… I really clean. (Also, I had no choice with the super cleaning, our house was a PIT – it’s been since before Mexico (which was almost TWO MONTHS AGO) that I had actually cleaned.)

So, today…I pay for it. However, our bedroom and bathroom are spotless, and a couple loads of laundry have been done.

There’s something about knowing it’s going to be warm out that makes me want to clean. Like, open windows = vacuumed rug. I don’t totally understand, but whatevs. I’m glad the house is clean.

Also, ain’t it a bitch that while it WILL be warm today and tomorrow, the weekend forecast is for absolute suckage. Lamesauce. Looks like I’ll be holed up at home…which is fine. I still have to tackle the guest room and the (finished) attic…which is going to absolutely suck. I’ve been piling crap on the stairs leading up to the attic for months…and as a whole, there’s just stuff everywhere up there. So…maybe a rainy Saturday is what I need to get it done.

A new year…

Since I was off in the chilly, snowy north while the world (and blogging world) were ringing in the new year, I decided I’d take the time to do what everyone else has done. My list of the best and worst of 2008. The reasons I’m sad to see the year end, and more than happy to see it go.

The best of 2008

  • The hubs and I enjoyed our first full year of wedded bliss, and our first full year of home ownership. Both went well, without any major improvements or repairs necessary in either area. :)
  • I left the country again for the second time in over ten years, and got to see Costa Rica for the first time. I celebrated my own marriage and one of my best friend’s marriages there.
  • I regained my sanity by giving birth control the boot, and I’ve been enjoying my hormone-free life ever since. AND I’ve managed no accidents in the meantime.
  • I signed up for, trained for and completed the Breast Cancer 3-Day. One of the biggest accomplishments of my life thus far.
  • The husband was hired for a dream job, and I FINALLY got a promotion after almost 5 years at my current job and 2.5 years in my current position. (The promotion just happened a couple weeks ago – I haven’t even had a chance to blog about it yet!)
  • Got a new tattoo.
  • Voted in an election for a candidate I really cared about, and actually had him win.
  • I got bangs, and they actually work.

The worst of 2008

  • I’ve gained over 10 pounds. It shows no sign of letting up either.
  • We’ve spent over FIVE THOUSAND dollars on our cats’ health this year. And thus nearly doubled our credit card debt.
  • My aunt passed away after a 3 year battle with breast cancer.
  • I lost a whole bunch of money with the economy in the shitter.

Here’s to you, 2009. Let’s make it a better year than 2008. :)
