So much…and so random

Hello, dear interwebs.

Busy busy weekend behind us. One which started with a Friday headache and ended with a mountain of laundry and a crabby Abbers.

We picked up our new ottoman on Saturday, went to the memorial service for my friend Sarah, watched the movies Brothers and Angels & Demons (reviews below) and dealt with Abbers and her newly erupting SECOND TOOFIE. Within weeks she’ll have a couple of teeth on the bottom like the proud hillbilly she is. (Please, no hillbilly hate mail. I mean that in the nicest, toothless way possible.)

(Here come movie reviews for movies you’ve more than likely seen already. Enjoy!)

So, anyway, we watched “Brothers” on Friday night. Pretty good. I for the most part HATE Toby Maguire, but he wasn’t horrible in this. I was afraid of him, and I think that was the point, but I kept looking at him and then Jake Gyllenhaal and couldn’t figure out what the question was. If Natalie Portman’s character knew them both in high school and CHOSE TOBY MAGUIRE ON PURPOSE then what is this world coming to? SERIOUSLY?! I cannot put logic into this thinking. Jake Gyllenhaal had a neck tattoo and smoked and WAS HOT. Toby Maguire was gross and thin and had a military hair cut. I can’t discuss this anymore. I’m getting angry. Final call? Worth seeing. Kind of depressing, but good nonetheless.

Then we watched DVRed “Angels and Demons.” I had neglected even bothering with this movie because I couldn’t stare at the HORRIBLE haircut Tom Hanks had in the “Davinci Code.” Two and a half more hours of that mullet? NO THANK YOU. But I caved since it was Saturday afternoon and we were being lazy. Turns out…NO MULLET! Hooray! And Ewan McGregor! Things were looking up. And then I pretty much called everything else in the movie except for the end…and then the second end. (Yeah, this is one of those movies where you’re all “Ahhh, it’s over. OH WAIT. It’s still going! Here’s that extra half hour!”) So Ewan plays a priest character, and throughout the whole movie I kept thinking about the movie Quills where Joaquin Phoenix plays a priest or something and I don’t need to tell you more because that movie was hot and awesome. Final Call, entertaining, I guess…if you have 150 minutes to burn. And watch Quills too.

Reading those reviews makes me realize I should stick to regular blogging and not do reviews.

Anyway, I have a boatload of pictures from the past month to get up. I’m going to attempt to before the month is over.

Also, my order from Modern Bird is taking longer because I can’t make a goddamned decision. You’d think that the outcome was going to rule whether I live or die.

I have made my decision.

Last night, I ordered my piece from Modern Bird Studios.

And I picked this photo.

When trying to pick colors, I fell in love with Black Plum, and then thought how nice a gray would look with it…and then realized that those were pretty much the same colors Mandy from Harper’s Happenings chose. Whoops. So, I stuck with the Black Plum and chose to do natural wood as the other “color.”

My work of art hath been ordered.

It just dawned on me this morning how cool it would be to get a tattoo of the final product. (Actually, I was thinking how cool it would be for the hubs to get a tattoo of the final product, but I digress.)

Anyway, I CAN’T WAIT for it to be done!

Be sure to check out Modern Bird to order a work of art of your own!

How do I decide?! I know! Ask the internets!

So, I’m super-duper-uuber stoked for my prize from Modern Bird Studios via Harper’s Happenings. Now the hard part. Picking an image.

I chatted with Megan from Modern Bird and they’re being super awesome and letting me upgrade to a 12″x24″ piece instead (in exchange for dollars, of course). I was quick to start looking at pictures. The hubs and I have it narrowed down to two; I can’t decide. So, which one should we pick? Remember, this is more than likely being hung above our fireplace.

This is an example of their awesome work:

And here are the images we’re deciding between. Don’t even ask me which colors we’re choosing.

Huhhh. Decisions decisions.

So, HELP dear internets! Which do we choose? Abbers will forever be captured in one of these two poses (well, moreso forever than a digital copy of these photos). Which should we do?

A lack of peeps and sad news.

Happy Easter, dear readers.

Today turned out to be a gorgeous day. We headed to the hubs’ parents house and had a wonderful dinner prepared mostly by my sister-in-law. After stuffing ourselves we headed to the front yard to enjoy the sun and warm weather.

Please enjoy my bra strap and poor posture.

Abby was having so much fun that she passed out within 15 minutes of being outside.

So, I took it upon myself to take some photos of my favorite subject.

On a much sadder note, a friend I’ve known since junior high school suffered both cardiac and respiratory arrest after being brought to the emergency room on Friday when she was unable to breathe. After being brought back to life, she suffered a number of seizures and two strokes, and is now in a medically induced coma and is presumed to be in a vegetative state. She turns 30 in a matter of weeks. I’m trying to stay optimistic as she is a spitfire to the nth degree and if anyone could come out of this mess, it would be her. Any good vibes you have to share are greatly appreciated. I’m going to the hospital tomorrow to sit with her family.

Give your friends an extra hug the next time you see them. Shit happens in the matter of seconds.

Scoot-scoot!

Abby has turned the corner. Literally. She can scoot.

Okay – let me pause for a moment. Is that how it’s spelled? I mean, I know it’s barely a word, but I’ve been staring at it and saying it in my head for the last 20 minutes and now I can’t even tell if I make any sense anymore. Scoot? Skoot? Skooch? Scootch? Scooch? WHATEVER.

Point being, my little lady lays on her back and somehow manages to work herself across the blanket on the floor. And is also trying to commit baby-cide by pushing herself over the edge of her changing table.

She’s moving, people. It’s the beginning of the end. I sat and looked around our living room last night and realized what a fricken danger zone we live in. Wires everywhere, outlets, crap that can be pulled over, big TV to fall on her head yadda yadda yadda. We’re doomed.

I’ll try to get video soon. It’s frighteningly cute.
